The watchlist

Riya's watchlist

Companies and tools on my radar. These are the businesses I'm looking into and the open-source projects I want to try, plus why each one caught my attention. It's not advice, just what I'm paying attention to.

Companies on my radar

Why these companies have my attention

For each one: what it does, why I'm interested, and the thing I'd want to understand before forming a view. Figures are as publicly reported and can move fast, so check the company's own announcements.

Suno

Full breakdown
What it does
Writes a full song, music and vocals, from a text prompt.
Why I'm watching
People genuinely love it and it's growing fast, reportedly a $400M round at a $5.4B valuation in mid-2026.
What I want to understand
Major labels are suing over the music it trained on. The same data that makes it good is what's now in court, so the outcome could decide the business.
A good reminder that a product people love and a settled business are two different things.

Genspark

Researching
What it does
A general AI agent that builds docs and slides, and can even place real phone calls for you.
Why I'm watching
The phone-call demo went viral, the product feels genuinely slick, and it's reportedly valued near $2.6B (mid-2026).
What I want to understand
It runs on other companies' AI models and leans on cheap, subsidised credits. I'd want to see whether it still makes money once those credits cost full price.
It builds a great experience on top of models it doesn't own, so the real question is what keeps customers once the novelty fades.

Higgsfield

A tool I use
What it does
Turns prompts and selfies into short cinematic videos for TikTok and Reels.
Why I'm watching
I actually use it, it's growing fast, and it's reportedly valued around $5.4B (late 2026).
What I want to understand
A lot of the magic runs on other companies' video models. I'd want to know whether being fast and well-distributed is enough to keep competitors out.
One of the tools I use, and a good test of a question every AI app faces: what happens when the capability you're renting gets cheaper for everyone?

Polsia

Researching
What it does
An AI the founder had investors talk to directly, it answered their questions and explained the business before he joined the final meetings.
Why I'm watching
It reportedly helped raise $30M at around a $250M valuation. Coming from private equity, the real story to me is how much a founder can get done before building a big team.
What I want to understand
A smaller team doesn't mean the business is cheap to run, you still pay for the AI and still have to win customers. How durable is that edge?
Doing more before you fundraise gives you more choice about when to raise and how much of the company to give up.

Anthropic

Researching
What it does
The company behind Claude.
Why I'm watching
Bloomberg reported revenue more than doubled in a quarter (about $4.7B to over $11.5B), and it reportedly expects a second straight quarter of adjusted operating profit, unusual for an AI lab.
What I want to understand
Adjusted operating profit leaves costs out, and the ~80% gross margin figure is before training costs and the share paid to partners. I'd want to see how much cash is actually left after the next round of spending.
Figures are as reported (Bloomberg, FT via Reuters) and preliminary. Two numbers to keep separate: adjusted profit is not cash kept.

Projects I want to try

Open-source projects that caught my eye. Each links straight to its GitHub, with a quick note on what it takes to get started. Most need a terminal and some comfort with code.
